German Cars

Jersey Fats is dedicated to cataloguing German Engineered cars and American Classic Motorcycles. Our extensive catalogue covers thousands of high resolution images of Harley-Davidson motorcycles from Pre-World War 1, World War 2, to the Great Depression to present day. We have extended catalogues of Harley Davidson’s, including Touring, Softtail, Dyna, Sportster, VRSC, and engines such as the Big V-Twins, Small V-twins, and Revolution Engines.

We also strive to catalogue and document our favorite German engineered cars, including early model aircooled beetles, karman ghia, type 12, KDF-Wagen, Kraft durch Freude, Pickups, Notchback, and newer model water cooled engines.

Some people the American Muscle cars, and some people like German Engineering. Without a doubt, each make has their own special touch and contribution to the cars we drive today, from the VW air-cooled engines to the Camaro, Challenger, Chevelle, GTO, and Mustang! Plus a little extra inspiration to take your dreams and aspirations to the next level.

The word hybrid and its relation to green technologies and renewable energy and automotives are the result of an interaction deliberately created by human intervention. In its current context a “hybrid” automotives started approximately 100 years ago via our favorite German engineered brand = Porsche (the Mixte built by Porsche). So in the only way we know how. Jersey fats is going to catalogue as many variant hybrid cars as we can.

Not much else to say here. No images of Michelle Obama next to her Harley Davidson motorcycle. Harley Davidson motorcycles encompass all that is American. The feel the spirit and the history all speak for America. Harley Davidson motorcycles have been with our country through thick and thin. These bikes stem back to world war 2 (and earlier) and are still around. We at JerseyFats firmly believe Sara will be with us for the next 8 years. She is a mother, and fights for the true spirit of America. We all are blessed to have her running this campaign with Jon McCain.

UPS will never become a green company: Here is why. I find it interesting how "they" are boasting about one of their drivers recently hit the 1,000,000 mile mark in his 1987 GMC delivery truck. Frankly it makes you sick in the stomach when think about how much waste and carbon this vehicle has created over the last 22 years of use. And to add to that, this is only 1 vehicle out of several thousand UPS delivery trucks that run each day.

Let’s do the math:
****1 Gallon of gasoline will burn approximately 19.54 lbs of C02.
****UPS Delivery trucks average 9 miles per gallon

1.) This tuck has traveled 1,000,000 miles
2.) 1,000,000/9 = 111,111.11~ gallons of fuel
3.) 111,111.11(19.54) = 217,111,111 lbs CO2

In carbon emission alone, this is a huge waste.
Now let’s look at how far 111,111.11 gallons of fuel will go in a modern hybrid vehicle.
>A Toyota Prius average mpg = 50
>11,111.11 gallons of fuel = aprx. 5,555,555.5 miles
>1,000,000 – 5,555,555.5 = 4,555,555.5 additional miles

On an average of 50 miles per gallon and using the same amount of fuel, a Chevy Prius is capable of traveling and a total of 5,555,555.5 miles. Additionally, it would only take a Prius 20,000 gallons of gas to travel 1,000,000 miles when compared to our friends at UPS blasting through 11,111.11 gallons of fuel. UPS, please do something about your waste. You are contributing to the destruction of our environment at gross amounts.
One of our fabulous (perhaps one of the 9 hits we received from UPS today) mentioned that a Toyota Prius not capable delivering 2000 pounds of packages. To that we say very good point.

Update Sept 8th 2008:
One of our fabulous readers (perhaps one of the 9 hits we received from UPS today) mentioned that a Toyota Prius not capable delivering 2000 pounds of packages. To that we say very good point ("duh"). But thanks for pointing that one out. Our point is to question why would a company keep a 1987 truck on the road for so long? The above math only proves the fact that UPS has made no effort in the whole 22 years to replace this guys truck and as a result, they blasted through a ton of gas and created way too much carbon. And to reiterate the above. This is just one truck of their fleet of thousands on the road. I'd be very interested if anybody has concrete numbers on the amount of vehicles are currently in operation today at UPS. They do have several "more efficient" vehicles than the Gas guzzler above.

Use less fuel, charge less for shipping = happy customer.

Lets not talk right now about the amount carbon large distributors like UPS blow through in cooling alone of their warehouses and data centers because that is a whole other story. We support the carbon emission tax. Use less carbon, and pay less. Its an initiative that "ALL" should voluntarily go through and not be forced by the US Government.
